The Fundació Catalunya Europa has promoted new research to analyze and disseminate the thoughts and actions of Pasqual Maragall. This investigation joins two others already published on his figure and his political activity, focusing this time on his commitment to European political integration and his intense international activity. Maragall firmly believes in the importance of Europe as a fundamental player in the global political arena, aspiring to a close Europe that prioritizes respect for diversity and guarantees the well-being of citizens, prosperity and cooperation between territories. His vision combines the idealization of objectives with the pragmatism of political action in European institutions.

The volume addresses various aspects of his life and career, including his role as mayor during the Olympic Games and the international projection of Barcelona, as well as his commitment during the Balkan conflict, his defense of city diplomacy and decentralized cooperation. in the Mediterranean, among others. Maragall, as president of the Committee of the Regions and as an academic at the Università Roma Tre, has been a thinker and leader committed to Europe, actively participating in debates and reflections on the future of the continent.

The work highlights Maragall's capacity for anticipation and vision, especially in a current context marked by issues such as the European integration model, the enlargement of the European Union and the change in the world order.
