Francesc Amat and César Fuster are the winners of "Llegat Pasqual Maragall 2021" Research Grant


Researchers Francesc Amat Maltas and César Fuster Llamazares have won the "Llegat Pasqual Maragall 2021" Research Grant. Their research proposal, entitled Immigration and the Welfare State in Europe: the Fiscal Frontier of Redistribution, has been selected by a jury formed by Anna Terrón, director of FIIAPP and patron of the FCE, Maria Buhigas, urban planner and patron of the FCE, Mireia Grau, Head of Research at the Institut d'Estudis d'Autogovern and Txema Castiella, Director of Institutional Relations Services at Barcelona City Council.

Amat holds a PhD in Political Science from Oxford University. He is currently Deputy Director of the Institutions and Political Economy Research Group at the University of Barcelona and a member of the Academic Council of the Master in Institutions and Political Economy at the same university.

Fuster is a lawyer, political scientist and DPHil in politics in Oxford University. He is currently an Assistant Professor of Comparative Economic Policy at Oxford University and research assistant at Nuffield College.

This is the eighth edition of the "Llegat Pasqual Maragall" Research Grant. The winners will have one year to develop the project submitted for the research grant, which has a financial endowment of € 5,000. In addition, the foundation is committed to working for the publication of the research once completed.

In chronological order, the previous winners of the research grant were Marc Pradel, Mariona Tomàs, the group formed by Rosella Nicolini, Miquel Àngel Garcia López and José Luis Roig Sabaté, Javier Martínez-Cantó, Oscar Monterde and Toni Rodon.
