The Catalunya Europa Foundation and RBA publish the book Maragall i el govern de la Generalitat: les polítiques del canvi written by Júlia Miralles de Imperial, Carles Rivera, Gemma Ubasart and Joan Vicente and edited by Josep M. Muñoz.

Pasqual Maragall i Mira (Barcelona, ??1941), mayor of Barcelona and president of the Generalitat, is one of the most prominent political figures in the contemporary history of the country. His passage through the presidency of the Generalitat of Catalonia between 2003 and 2006 was associated with the eventful event that surrounded the genesis of the 2006 Statute and the effects it caused. This fact has prevented highlighting the whole of the work of the Government of the Generalitat when Maragall presided over it. How important has this political action been? Has it been an insignificant parenthesis in the recent history of Catalonia? Or, on the contrary, has it represented the implementation of innovative policies that have been projected beyond those years of government?

In order to answer these questions, the authors of the book examine the institutional, economic, social and territorial policies that the "government of change" headed by Maragall designed and applied, describing its objectives and its effects, both immediate and longer term. In this way, they highlight the successes and limitations of the action carried out by the Generalitat by the government of Pasqual Maragall, a figure who has known how to identify the great collective challenges posed in Catalonia, Spain and Europe in the traffic of the 20th century into the 21st and has tried to give you an answer.
