This academic paper focuses on analysing the new EU Pact on Migration and Asylum, examining two main points: the negotiation process and the factors that have led to the adoption of the new legal framework, and the study of the most controversial normative provisions that raise concerns among NGO, experts and activists for their securitising approach of the EU’s external borders, instead of being based on the protection of human rights, and which may in practice lead to possible violations of International Law and European Law, especially the right to asylum.
